VU Social ‘Dores Program Application

Social DoresThe VanderbiltU Social Media Assistant (Social 'Dore) is part of the social media staff within Communications and Marketing at Vanderbilt University and is a key contributor responsible for social media content creation across all social media platforms.

The Vanderbilt Social 'Dores program is designed to give valuable real-world social media management and leadership experience to select Vanderbilt students. Focusing on hands-on social media opportunities, students will contribute to the VU social media community through content creation, publishing, event coverage, community management and more. Under direct guidance from the social media team, Social 'Dores will be exposed to real-world scenarios that will challenge them to think creatively and solve problems in a high-paced but supportive environment as they support the overall Vanderbilt University brand on social media.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Sound judgement and time-management
  • A desire to collaborate and work as a team

We are looking to bring 3-5 students who will begin as volunteers in their first year of service and then become eligible for paid positions. Each student will be expected to work between 5-10 hours per week. Example responsibilities and assignments include:

  • Creating original content by taking photos and videos
  • Attending and covering campus events
  • Writing copy for social media posts
  • Supporting social media listening
  • Supporting social media analytics and measurement

To remain eligible for the Social 'Dores program, students must remain in good academic standing as required by Vanderbilt University.
